Sunderland Maintain Good Start to EPL

Birmingham 2 - 2 Sunderland
Paul McShane (og 28)- Michael Chopra (75)
Garry O'Connor (82)- Stern John (90)

Stern John stunned his old club with a last minute leveller as Roy Keane's Sunderland once again showed never-say-die spirit in spades in a 2-2 draw at Birmingham.

After getting their season off to a flyer with a last-gasp win over Tottenham on Saturday, Keane's men refused to accept defeat after sub Garry O'Connor gave Birmingham an 82nd minute lead.

After heading against the crossbar a minute later, John - who left St Andrew's for the north-east last season - pounced to bundle home after Ross Wallace's 90th minute free-kick.

'It usually happens, so I was confident he (Stern) would score. I keep saying it is not a coincidence to score so many late goals, because the desire and determination was there for all to see.' - Keano says it all...
